To do: Print these sewing cards and use a large needle with thread to sew the constellation shapes.
Time: 30 minutes
Materials: Print out the sewing cards above or make your own, needle and thread or shoelace
Groups of stars called constellations form patterns all across our night sky. We invite you to explore the shapes with your child!
Start today with these constellation sewing cards. After printing and cutting out, thread a big needle with embroidery floss or other thread. Tie a knot in the end.
For younger children, pierce holes through the paper ahead of time with a push pin or needle to make sewing easier. Adults, take a turn to show your child how to navigate through the holes in the sewing card. Then, help your child take a turn!
Sewing and lacing cards are great for fine motor skills and developing concentration. We hope you enjoy these sewing cards with your family, and consider making your own sewing cards on any topic in the future.
