No matter where you live, you and your child can enjoy art in the world around you.
From TV commercials, to milk bottles, to the signs on the street, everything was designed by someone.
Today, go on an adventure to find some art in your community. Here are examples of where you might look:
- Statues in Parks
- Murals on buildings
- Street art like spray paint or airbrush
- Advertisements like billboards or shop signs
- Architectural details on bridges or buildings
When you return home, talk about all the art you’ve discovered! Where did you see the most color? What were the materials used?
Lastly, make your own art in this Soup Can Activity:
An interesting activity for you and your family is to create your very own soup label. Think about what is inside the soup, what you think customers would like to see, or just what makes you happy!
Peel off the original label on a soup can. Next, provide your child with a strip of white paper measuring the dimensions of the original label. Using whatever medium you’d prefer, design your own soup label! Have a conversation about everyday art you see in your kitchen and home.
