To do: Bake cookies and deliver them to a neighbor.
Time: 1 hour
Materials: Ingredients for cookies or other baked treat

As anyone who has spent time with children knows, they are naturally very generous. Of course there are moments in development when “Mine!” seems to be the only response to a question, but in general, children love to give.
We invite you to participate in the time honored tradition of delivering fresh cookies to a neighbor.
Of course, you don’t have to make cookies per se. You could make a fresh and healthy fruit salad if you’d prefer, or use up ingredients for monster cookies that you have at the house. Try Black Bean Brownies for a twist!
Whatever you make, prepare your child ahead of time by having a conversation about what you’re going to do. “Would you like to help me make cookies? Then we can have some for snack. After that, let’s make a plate and bring them to our neighbor for their snack!”
While the cookies are baking, ask your child if they’d like to make a card or decorate a plate for your neighbor as well.
These little acts of giving will have lasting memories for your child and the recipient of your gift!
